Membership details

The personal information that is entered on the FOM membership database via the online members’ area is used for the administration of FOM by its staff and officials, to contact members and to circulate information relating to FOM services and your FOM membership, or which FOM believes will be of benefit to you in your profession.

Data Protection

All personal data is processed in accordance with the Data Protection Act (2018) and, under this Act, FOM has a legal duty to protect your personal data. FOM will take all reasonable technical precautions to ensure that your data is safely collected and stored. FOM will not pass your personal data to any outside organisations or individuals without your consent or prior knowledge unless required to do so by law. The only exception to this is that information on individual trainees registered with the Faculty may be shared with the General Medical Council, Deanery and their trainer. No personal information will be passed to organisations on a commercial basis.

FOM and the public

We regret that it is not possible for the FOM to offer medical advice on any individual or general medical condition. Users of this website seeking such advice should consult their medical practitioner. Nor is the Faculty able to deal with complaints about individual doctors; this is the role of the doctor’s employer or the General Medical Council.
