The Faculty’s CPD Guidance document has been prepared for doctors who wish to participate in the Faculty’s scheme of Continuing Professional Development.
The Academy of Medical Royal Colleges (AoMRC) has produced a guidance document for appraisers and doctors. This document outlines what appraisers should consider when reviewing a doctor’s CPD and provides guidance to doctors on the things they should expect to be discussed at appraisal.
Reflection is an important component of CPD. The GMC’s CPD Guidance states: “Reflection drives change in performance and is the key to effective CPD. Good Medical Practice requires you to reflect regularly on your standards of medical practice”.
The AoMRC has produced a reflective template for revalidation that can assist doctors to reflect on their CPD and all supporting information for revalidation. This can be used as a prompt when completing your reflection in the Faculty’s revalidation management system or CPD diary.
The GMC’s CPD guidance explains what the GMC expects doctors to do to maintain and improve your practice through CPD. It aims to help you understand and meet the CPD requirements for revalidation.
